Positional Statement for Membership Agreement

We believe that the following Positional Statement accurately represents the teachings of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members.

  1. Beliefs
I believe the articles of the full Statement of Faith represent the position of the leadership and board of Bible Baptist Church Billings, and I agree not to cause strife, division, or become subversive over any areas where I may personally disagree.

  2. The Bible
I believe God gave us his words in writing and preserved them in the Bible. I believe he will not contradict his written words with any leading, guiding, message, or influence of his Holy Spirit.

  1. Jesus Christ
I believe Jesus Christ always was, is, and will forever be God. I believe God was manifest in the flesh as the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary, living a sinless life, and becoming sin for us without sinning, that we might receive his righteousness.

  1. Salvation
I believe salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for my sins. I have trusted Him alone for salvation, not by any works of my own. Through this, I have received the righteousness of God.

  1. Eternal Security
I believe that because I have trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour, nothing can separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus my Lord.

  1. Water Baptism
I believe water baptism is not a part of my salvation, but rather a picture of it. I understand that the Baptist church takes its name from baptizing individuals after salvation, in contrast to other religious groups that baptize for salvation.

  1. Gifts
I believe the spiritual gifts in the New Testament given severally to all believers are for me to use to edify, exhort, and comfort others—ultimately for the glory of God. These gifts are not for self-edification, false boasting, personal glorification, or lifting myself up in pride.

  1. Judgments
I believe there is a judgment seat of Christ in heaven for all believers, where my unconfessed sin will be cleansed, my works that remain will be rewarded, and any worthless works will be burned up.

  1. Love
I believe that my love for God must be greater than my love for anyone or anything else. I believe I should love others by putting them ahead of myself—serving them, praying for them, and persuading them to do right, whether they are saved or lost.

  1. Growth
I believe that in order to grow spiritually, I must increase my knowledge and understanding of God’s word, spend time talking and listening to God, and make decisions and changes in my life that are pleasing to the Lord Jesus Christ.
