Our Faith

what we believe

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, inerrant word of God, providentially preserved in the English Authorized King James Version, and as such, is “the holy scriptures” and thereby “given by inspiration of God.” (Proverbs 30:5, Psalm 12:6, 7, 2 Timothy 3:15-17)

JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His vicarious atonement, His sacrificial death, His bodily resurrection, and His second coming. (John 1:1, Isaiah 7:14, I John 2:1, 2, I Corinthians 15:1-4)

SALVATION

We believe salvation is “by grace through faith” in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and “not by works of righteousness which we have done.” Furthermore, we adhere to the Bible position and Baptist adherence that the believer’s soul is eternally secure after salvation. (Ephesians 2:8, 9, Titus 3:5, John 5:24, 2 Timothy 2:13)

CHURCH

We believe in two scriptural uses of the word “church” (the spiritual body of Christ, consisting of all believers, and each local assembly of believers). We believe that all people who have been born again are a part of “the church, which is his body,” and therefore should join an autonomous local church. Furthermore, we believe the Biblical church to be an Independent Bible believing (KJV) Baptist Church separate from religio-political bosses. We believe in two church ordinances: Water baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and two offices: Pastor and Deacon. (I Corinthians 1:16, 11:23-27, 12:13, Ephesians 1:22, 23, 4:11, 12, 1 Timothy 3:1-13)

DOCTRINE

We are Baptist in doctrine, and traditional in views of music and worship. We subscribe to a moderate dispensationalism, and are anti-Calvinistic in theology. We  are against the falsehoods of higher and lower criticism of the word of God as taught in the major seminaries. We also believe in a practical, Biblical Christianity: prayer, personal work, giving, ministering to the saints, and a daily walk with Jesus Christ. Bible Baptist church holds the following Statement of Faith as being a summary of Christian doctrine whose authority consists only in its agreement with the Bible.



1. The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of thirty-nine books in the Old Testament (2 Corinthians 3:142 Corinthians 3:14

A. God the Father

We believe that the Scriptures being read in their natural, literal sense reveal God’s dispensations that specify mankind's varying relationships and responsibilities toward God.

24. Fellowship
We believe the most important thing in the Christian life is to maintain our personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (John 15:3-5John 15:3-5

Statement of Faith

We believe that the following Positional Statement accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and is therefore binding upon all members.



1. Beliefs
I understand that the articles of the full Statement of Faith represent the position of the leadership and board of Bible Baptist Church Billings and I agree not to cause strife or division; or become divisive or subversive with others over any matters where I may personally disagree.

2. The Bible

I believe God gave us his words in writing and preserved them in the Bible. I believe he will not contradict his written words with any leading, guiding, message, or influence of his Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus Christ

I believe Jesus Christ always was, is, and will for ever be God. I believe God was manifest in the flesh as the Lord Jesus Christ, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and became sin for us without sinning to give us his righteousness.

4. Salvation

I believe salvation is the free gift given by God’s grace and accepted through faith in Jesus Christ’s death, shedding of his blood, payment for my sin, his burial, and his resurrection three days later without any works necessary on my behalf. I believe this gives me God’s righteousness.

5. Eternal Security

I believe that once I trust Jesus Christ as my Saviour nothing can separate me from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus my Lord.

6. Water Baptism

I believe water baptism is not a part of my salvation, but rather a picture of my salvation. I understand that the Baptist church takes its name from baptizing individuals AFTER salvation in opposition to other religious groups who baptize FOR salvation.

7. Gifts
I believe the spiritual gifts in the New Testament given severally to all believers are for me to use for edifying others, exhorting others, and comforting others; ultimately for the glory of God. I understand these gifts are not to be used to edify myself, boast of falsely, bring glory to myself, or lift myself up in pride.

8. Judgments

I believe there is a judgment seat of Christ for all believers where my unconfessed sin will be confessed, my works that remain will be rewarded, and afterward I will live with Jesus Christ forever.

9. Love

I believe that my love for God must be greater than my love for anyone or anything else. I believe in displaying a proper love for one another second by putting others ahead of myself, serving others, persuading others to do right, and praying for others saved and lost.

10. Growth

I believe that in order to grow spiritually, I must be increasing my knowledge and understanding of God’s word, talking and listening to God, and making decisions and changes in my life that are pleasing to the Lord Jesus Christ.
